What do you look to for comfort and peace? There are many answers to that question. Some look to sports, television shows, drugs, and far too often, folks look to alcohol to alleviate stress and provide the illusion of “fun”. Lord knows, I have turned to food over the years as a means to make myself feels better. We are all guilty of it.
Sadly, over the past four years, far too many have turned to a political figure for salvation and means to vent their political frustration. Donald Trump was seen and a Jesus to many people. He was seen as the savior of the country. Sure, it might seem like I am guilty of this too. But rest assured, Donald Trump is not Jesus. But he was a man standing in the gap between what our American Republic should be and what it is turning into already in just a few short days after the Biden installation. I, and the majority of voting age Americans clung to the hope that Trump would continue to defend American and Christian values for four more years. To be the obstacle and the voice for us against the new world order progressives. But, that wasn’t in the cards. At least not now.
Trump started a political wave across America. He was a disrupter, a game changer. He won the hearts and minds of millions of Americans, and while doing that, he became one of the most successful presidents in our history. He was able to accomplish more in four years, than the establishment has ever done. And that’s why we are here today.
The swamp, the lifers in politics do not want change. They have hated Trump since he came down the escalator. And they have been working to get him out of the office since that moment. The swamp will do, and did anything so that he was not re-elected. Period. So, now we are left with a morally, mentally corrupt president who is being led by a leash from his handlers. His leash is an earpiece that tells him what to do and say. Think I’m crazy? Did you see the moment a couple days ago? He approached the marines who were waiting for him and instead of saluting, he uttered “salute the marines”. Obviously, our new president needs direction from someone at all times. Sad. But that is what the swamp wants. Someone they can direct and control.
So now, many Americans are feeling hopeless, angry, and scared. Perhaps this is the way Obama supporters felt after he left the White House, even though the country was in critical condition. You see, this is what happens when we put all our eggs in another human’s basket. Or when we put all our eggs in anything less than God’s basket. If you are looking to Trump, Biden, or Obama for salvation and peace you will come up empty. If you think drinking two beers or twenty beers will numb the pain of reality for a moment, you’re right, but the day after is worse than the day before. If you look to a friend or even family for comfort, fun, or peace, I guarantee you will wake up empty someday. Things of this world will leave you empty and unsatisfied.
Why all the doom and gloom?! Hardly. This is a message of hope and happiness. Today, if you focus for just a few moments on the one true God, the trajectory of your life will change forever. If you start a journey with God today, you will have an anchor for your entire earthly life, not just for a night or two.
Read Psalms 62:
Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
2Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3How long will you assault me?
Would all of you throw me down—
this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4Surely they intend to topple me
from my lofty place;
they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
but in their hearts they curse.
5Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
6Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
9Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
together they are only a breath.
10Do not trust in extortion
or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
do not set your heart on them.
11One thing God has spoken,
two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you, God,
12and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
and, “You reward everyone
according to what they have done.”
In Him you have a Hope that is eternity- long. Open your heart and talk to your Father today. You won’t be disappointed. I guarantee it.
