Communications in 2021

Writer: James GarberJames Garber

Many people have been reaching out about how to be able to communicate when the phones don't work. Smart. A week or so ago, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp were down for several hours. Incidentally, at the the same time, Verizon Wireless was down across several states. Did you know some people use Facebook's family of apps to communicate exclusively? It's true some folks use these apps on wifi to be able to talk to family and friends. That's great when it works. But what happens when it doesn't? What if your cell phone doesn't work? What if the TV doesn't work. What if the landline doesn't work?

Some say it'll never happen, but I beg to differ. Do you think it is any coincidence that the largest social media network went dark? Or that airline and banking systems go down routinely, now more than ever? I don't. I think certain groups of hackers or bad actors from China, Russia, Iran, and the like are probing our systems to see just what they can do. I believe they are just hours, days, or months away from taking down the electrical grid, cell networks, and/ or the internet. You might think I'm a conspiracy theorist. Maybe you're right. But before 9/11/2001 if you said Islamic terrorists would fly airplanes into the World Trade Center and kill thousands, you would be called a conspiracy theorist. In the fall of 2019 if you would have said within a few months, a manmade virus would escape a level four lab in Wuhan China and alter the way the world lives, close churches in the United States, and put our very freedom at risk at every level, you would have been called a conspiracy theorist.

The days in which we live are perilous just as the Bible foretold and they will get worse. Communications during these times is as much of a priority as stocking up on food and water. Being able to get help and information during a crisis is just as vital as practicing how to defend your family with firearms. In this forum, I plan to help anyone who is interested in getting a radio and a license to be able to communicate when everything else fails.

Communicating effectively by radio is an art and takes a little bit of skill. It's no less but no more demanding than learning how to use your CCW weapon. But, if you don't use it and practice it, you won't be ready. Period. So subscribe to this category on the website and get ready to learn a few things that will help you when all else fails and you need help. There is no more time to waste and your family is counting on you.
