“ This is what the Lord says to me with His strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, He is the one you are to fear, He is the one you are to dread.” Isaiah 8: 11-13
The world, even our nation is on fire with confusion, evil, hatred, and anxiety. We can all feel it. Anytime there is any uncertainty, we get nervous. We look at all kinds of sources for answers. I am guilty of it just like many of you. No matter which side of an argument you are on, you will naturally look to like-minded sources for information and encouragement. We do not always look at the other side of the argument to try to see it from their side. We do not always see it from the Bible’s perspective either. We can also get so caught up in the fear of uncertainty that it consumes all our thoughts, words, and actions. But, one day, there is a wake-up call. Ours came yesterday.
As Jessica was driving home with Evan from the hospital, he began to cry out of nowhere. He has been absorbing what he has been hearing at home and on the news. He fears the new president and what it might mean for the country and even for him. He fears the uncertainty of the times like many of you but does not know how to express it. Even though we try to pray, talk about God, and even read Scripture in the home, he too, bought into the uncertainty of the times in the world. Evan is a kid who is fighting cancer like a rock star. He faces each day without fear of his future. But, he has fear of the political times of the country.
So, I need to be much more mindful of what our children are being exposed to in the home. And maybe that is a lesson for our country as a whole. It certainly does not mean to ignore current events or to not be prepared. More than ever, I am ready and prepared for what is to come. But instead of focusing, even obsessing over the current events, we should look to God’s Word for comfort and peace. The world will pass away, but God’s Word will last forever. Presidents will come and go, even governments will come and go, but God’s Word will last forever. Jobs, cars, fame, fortune will come and go, but God’s Word will last forever.
So, even if a new regime comes to power in America, and even if we cannot and will not support their evil ideologies, we have comfort, hope, and peace that God will ultimately remain in control. Even as Big Tech and political figures repress and censor free speech and free thought illegally and immorally, they can never control the Word or the power of God. Even if they feel victorious today, we know full well, there will be justice in God’s court. Those on the left and the right who are jaded by the veil of evil and support abortion, persecution of Christians, illegal actions, and greed will ultimately find justice in their own time as surely as we take a breath today.
This is a call for everyone to be physically and mentally prepared for the current times. And it is a call for everyone to take a step back from the rhetoric on both sides for the health and welfare of yourselves and your families. I will remain vested in searching for truth in the worldly arena but will be more mindful of the little ears who hear it. And I will keep searching for God’s favor and His wisdom. Even as an imperfect human, full of fault and sin, I have Hope in Jesus’ finished work that even I may be redeemed.
This is also a call for anyone who is planning to attend any protests at the state capitols on election day. Violence is not the answer. These protests do not do anything except play into the hands of those leading you there. Instead of protesting, stay home, and pray. Go to a church and be still. Stay home and read the Bible with your family. Facing the incoming evil regime with violence gives them a voice. Let God be your voice and your guide today and always.
Thanks for reading. God bless.
In the next nugget, I hope to explain fully what is going on in the world from a Biblical view. It is about more than Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Trust me.
Thanks Jamie. Great blog. God bless your family.
