It has been a while since we posted an update on our little guy's journey. Luckily there hasn't been much to report. We continue through the maintenance phase of treatment and it has been going very well.
As mentioned in previous updates, Evan continues on daily oral doses of MP6 (chemotherapy). Every Tuesday, he gets a large dose of methotrexate orally. And he continues on his three days per week dose of oral prophylactic antibiotics. He continues his monthly check ups at the chemo clinic at ProMedica Ebeid Children's. His last appointment was just a couple days ago. His port was accessed and blood drawn to check his blood counts. Everything came back either completely normal or within the expected range of someone on chemotherapy. This is good news!
Evan started school yesterday. We were, and are, very anxious about him being around other kids in the school setting. His WBC was 2.2 on Tuesday so he remains immunocompromised. Our school district is recommending masks for all students. We told Evan to keep his mask on throughout the day. But we have seen pictures of him without the mask on. We are under zero illusion that a cloth mask will protect him from anything, as all the studies are showing masks are essentially useless against the Sars CoV 2 virus and most viruses. But, it may help a tad and may help protect him from the larger bacterial molecules floating around. Who knows. Like everything else with the covid ordeal, there is a lot of fear porn out there and a lot of hysteria. We try not to feed the hysteria and rely on reliable, non-governmental, non- main stream media sources for common sense and actual research. Kind of like those silly plexiglass shields around desks and checkout counters. Common sense should tell anyone that they are useless and serve only as a virtue signal for whomever installed them that they are woke and sensitive to fear. Now, actual research proves the plexiglass shields are completely useless and most likely harmful, since they inhibit the circulation of air in the space, thus keeping viruses floating in the air around the "protected" person longer. Go figure.
So, for now, Evan is going to school and thoroughly enjoyed his first day. We remain prayerful for ongoing health and restoration for our little boy. He is an incredible kid with a really awesome personality. We pray that God will protect Evan from any and all illness throughout the school year. We also pray that God will protect Evan and all our children from violence in the schools and from the indoctrination that goes on every day in schools across America. As a parent, we should teach our children to lead, not follow. To think for themselves, not believe in propaganda and evil agendas. To be kind and not give in to the coldness of the world. To love, but with the discernment and knowledge God has given us.
